Finding Information
Online
How do
you rate search results?
Questions to ask:
Is it somebody’s personal page? Since people
make web pages for a reason you are looking
for someone who claims accountability and responsibility
for the content.
Is the page current enough?
Are there links to other pages as sources
of documentation for the information?
Do the links work?
Look for indications that the information
came from reliable sources. Did it come from
scholarly/academic journals? What are the author’s
credentials on this subject?
The five criteria for evaluating
Web pages are accuracy, authority, objectivity,
currency, and coverage of the web document.
