What is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism is the borrowing or copying of another persons work without giving credit to that person. Plagiarism can be intentional or unintentional. Plagiarism involves copying directly from another persons work, borrowing or copying someone else's ideas, or paraphrasing another's work or ideas. It is academically dishonest to misrepresent someone else's work as your own.

It is not necessary to cite something that is common knowledge. For example, the Titanic sank in April 1912. It is not necessary to cite this widely know fact.
